VoxPort Podcast Hosting / Listing on ATProto
Maybe this is a way to cross-post more efficiently on to ATProto?
I recently discovered VoxPort which is an app that lets you both record and publish podcasts in the ATProto universe.
Using it sets up both a profile page listing all the podcasts you might host on VoxPort, i.e. https://www.voxport.live/creator/ichris.bsky.social, as well as a series page for each podcast, i.e. https://www.voxport.live/p/dailyish.
As a bonus for podcasters already using a hosting service elsewhere, like I do with Transistor.fm, you can import past episode metadata while still maintaining a link to the original hosted MP3 file at Transistor (or your podcast hosting platform of choice) so that analytics could still track properly.
So now, if I understand it and have set it up correctly, when I publish a new episode of Daily(ish) on Transistor, the VoxPort listing will automatically update as well and create a new post in my PDS on ATProto for that episode making it easy for folks on ATProto services to subscribe and share episodes. I think?
Sometimes with RSS feeds and cross-posting it starts to become a bit of a nerdy circle jerk with everything going everywhere and the original canonical source of the thing being posted getting lost in the shuffle. But I'm still excited to see podcasting find it's way in to the ATProto universe.
And sorry for (hopefully temporarily) taking over the "New Episodes" page on VoxPort. 😆
