Hello World

Testing out the writing experience on Pckt

I already have a blog using Leaflet called Shouting into the Void but I wanted to check out what the hype was around Pckt since I'd seen a bunch of folks posting about and from it.

Pckt in action:

At first glance, I really dig the interface on Pckt. Clean, simple, and really focused on writing words on the screen.

Versus Leaflet:

There's something about Leaflet's navigation system that confuses me each time I use it. I can't quite put my finger on it, but I'm never positive I'm where I should be when I'm writing a post?

Verdict:

I'm being silly here because I really haven't put either app through it's paces, but if I had to pick on to use right now I'd probably go with Pckt.

My actual blog that I've had for 15+ years currently runs on Ghost and I have little complaints about it. But it also costs me $15USD/month to run. For my purposes, I really don't need to do that. But I do want a solid blogging platform that I don't have to worry about updating plugins or security holes or weird hosting plans.

I don't know how well Pckt or Leaflet would do at importing 15 years of blog posts, but it's certainly worth experimenting a little more to see if I could make something work with either one.
